Food Pantry
Working with the Central PA Food Bank, Salem Lutheran Church located at 138 E. Plum Street in Aaronsburg has created a permanent food pantry in their church building. Distribution takes place once a month on the 3rd Monday of the month. Distribution times are usually posted the Thursday or Friday before the distribution date. The specific donation request for APRIL 2024 distribution is “family size” Cheerios cereal.
Changes in Salem’s food distribution are due to changes in governmental requirements for the program. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank works with the PA Department of Agriculture to provide BONUS food items in food distributions through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). To receive the BONUS food items you will need to fill out a “Self Declaration of Need.” The self-declaration only needs to be filled out once a year. Forms can be found on the website for Central PA Food Bank.
The Central PA Food Bank requires ALL recipients to “sign in” at distribution. This enables Salem to accurately provide statistics to the Central PA Food Bank, as well as confirm all who are eligible for TEFAP.
